Oleg Bartunov is an astronomer at Lomonosov Moscow State University and PostgreSQL contributor with nearly 30 years of experience in the project. His work includes internationalization, GiST, GIN, full-text search, pg_trgm, hstore, jsonb, RUM, and SQL/JSON. He is a co-founder of Postgres Professional and has spent many years helping PostgreSQL communities grow around the world. Oleg first introduced PostgreSQL at Kathmandu University in 2009 and has returned to Nepal many times for lectures, conferences, and collaboration with local developers and students. He also knows Nepal through its trails and mountains, having trekked extensively across the country. At PGConf Nepal 2026, he will speak about 40 years of the Postgres idea and the challenges of its next decade.
